Here at Brave Expressions, we’ve personally experienced how connecting over shared stories can be healing. We all have a story to tell, and we want to hear yours. It only takes 3 steps to send us your story.

You can share your story in any medium that resonates with you, whether that be a short story, dance, music, art, and anything in between.
Below are examples of mediums that you can use in your story. Feel free to mix and match, and get creative!

When was a time you talked to someone about your experience and felt a connection with the other person?
What is your background with mental health?
When was a time where you struggled with mental health issues?
What things does your mental health stop you from doing?
When was a time where you overcame mental health issues?
What have you accomplished despite your struggles with mental health?
What are your past experiences sharing personal mental health stories?
What kind of difficulties/challenges have you faced with talking about your experiences?
What was a time you received mental health support or care?
What are some self-care exercises you practice that are beneficial to your mental well-being?
Have you experienced any stigma surrounding mental health?
What about your mental health scares you the most?
When was a time where someone came to you about their mental health challenges? How did you react?
Are there any positive lessons you’ve learned from your mental health struggles?
Based on your experiences, what words of advice or affirmation would you have for others going through something similar?
Your Story Title
Include the main title of your story, the subtitle and any captions for media (images, videos, etc).
Include your full name, a profile picture, and an optional bio. If you want to be anonymous under our Brave Expressions account, just let us know.
Include 5 story categories (i.e. depression, art, caregiver). These act as a quick description of the main themes of your story, and also act as a trigger warning.
Select 1 photo that will be featured as the main image at the top of your story. Please submit as high of quality image as possible. We can select an image for you if needed, just let us know in your email.
Email your materials to firstname.lastname@example.org. We will email you back to confirm we have received your story within 1 to 2 days.
All stories will take an additional 2-3 days before being published, as we read through all stories to ensure there is no harmful or triggering content. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to us.
